Heartbeat Kick Meditations

In 2025 I combined my skills as an musician and audio engineer with my love of meditation and desire to help others. The result is a project I'm calling Heartbeat Kick Meditations. Under this umbrella, I perform sound baths, livestream Music & Affirmation Meditation sessions weekly, and release meditation tracks that feature both my sound design of soft music infused with binaural elements and my spoken words to guide others toward clarity, happiness, and sense of unity.

I plan to enjoy this adventure into becoming a sound bath practitioner and meditation teacher for years to come by continuing my education and actively practicing my skills both online and at in person events.

Virtual Tip Jar

Occasionally on Insight Timer, people have asked for an alternate way of donating to me. This is because Apple labels your donation on Insight Timer as an "in app purchase" which allows them to take a 30% cut of any money spent when using an app on an Apple device. You may donate here if my "virtual tip jar" feels like a more comfortable option.

My above tip jar is powered by Stripe.

Have you listened to my course about changing your inner narrative?

Many years ago, I recognized a huge flaw in the way I was thinking. I worked so hard to change my own inner narrative and become kinder to myself. I would love to help others do the same, and I hope that by putting out these 10 lessons in a clear, step-by-step format, people will feel supported and have the shortcut that I never found back when I needed it.

The biggest result people experience is kinder self-talk and a stronger ability to correct their inner voice and change their thinking if they notice themselves slipping into old thought patterns. However, a beautiful side effect of completing my course is that you end up with a list of custom affirmations that perfectly align with what you need to hear most. If you feel like you are overly critical or harsh with yourself sometimes, you can take my course here, and together, we can shift your inner voice into a new, kinder version of it's former self.

I have a special offer for people who took my course and ended up with their own custom affirmations.

Allow me to turn your list of affirmations into a custom meditation track just for you.

How much does it cost?
The base price for this is $150.

How does this process work?

After you order, you'll receive an email containing a simple form that gives you an opportunity to tell me more information - the overall vibe you'd prefer, whether you want music or not, what types of instrumentation you'd like, whether you want me to repeat the affirmations or say each only once, and whether you'd like me to write and include additional affirmations to what you've provided.

After I receive your form submission, I get started with sound design - creating a soundscape that fits the criteria you described. Then, I record a gentle intro (if you asked for that), your list of affirmations, and a gentle outro. I mix the spoken words to the music, and master the recording to give us a final, high quality audio file.

Lastly, I deliver your audio file in a way that allows you to download the track to your favorite devices or play the track directly from the web page it is hosted on. It's yours forever.

Expressive Songwriting Workshop Series

Session 1:

Overview of Session 1:

This workshop introduced participants to expressive songwriting, focusing on maintaining human connection and emotion in the creative process. Katie covered fundamental concepts of song structure, explored what makes songs memorable and relatable, and introduced the "brain dump method" as a practical technique for generating authentic lyrics. Participants engaged in hands-on exercises, writing and sharing their own lyrics in real-time, demonstrating how to transform raw ideas into structured song components.

Key Topics Covered:

- What Makes Good Songs: Elements like storytelling, emotion, visuals, harmony, and catchiness that draw listeners

- Song Structure Components: Detailed explanations of verses (storytelling), choruses (main message), pre-choruses (building tension), bridges (contrasting perspectives), and other sections

- The Brain Dump Method: A practical technique for generating authentic lyrics by writing everything about a topic quickly, then organizing favorite lines into appropriate song sections

- Practical Application: Participants completed timed writing exercises and shared their work, with Katie demonstrating how raw material transforms into structured lyrics

Main Takeaways:

- Expressive songwriting prioritizes emotion over technical perfection

- Speed and authenticity matter more than grammar in initial drafts

- Different song sections can serve specific purposes

- There's no single correct way to start writing—melody, lyrics, chords, or themes are all valid entry points
